LifeWorks NW's Washington County's Hawthorn Walk-in Center provides urgent care services for individuals with mental health or substance use concerns. We are excited to expand our staffing to include two Substance Use Disorder Counselors (CADC I or II). These counselors will provide substance use screenings in the community and at the Hawthorn Center, referrals to treatment, and short-term intensive case management services to individuals while they connect or transition to services. They will work closely with Hawthorn mental health clinicians and peers as well as Washington County's Substance Use Disorder Coordinators. Get in on the ground floor and assist us in developing this important new service to our community.

DAYS/HOURS: This posting is for two full-time positions. Initially, hours will be Sunday through Thursday from 9:00am to 5:30 pm or Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm. Hours may change based on the needs of the program.

PAY/BENEFITS: $17.37 to $18.68 per hour. Full benefits.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • If recovering from a substance use related disorder, must be able to demonstrate continuous sobriety under nonresidential, independent living conditions for the immediate past two years.
  • Requires a current CADC I or a submitted application for CADC I with a formal plan to obtain certification within six months of hire. CADC II preferred (see ACCBO for details).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency preferred, but not required.
  • Have knowledge, skills, and abilities demonstrating competence in:  treatment of substance-related disorders including client evaluation and individual, group, family, and other counseling techniques; program policies and procedures for client case management and record keeping; and accountability for recording information in the client files assigned to them consistent with those policies and procedures. 
  • Should be familiar with theory or concepts of prevention, trauma informed care, cultural awareness and dual diagnosis.  .
  • Must have a working understanding of cultural values and norms, acculturation and generational issues within a culture; extensive knowledge and understanding of resources and appropriate support linkage available within the community; effective inner-cultural communication skills in order to advocate for culturally diverse clients.
  • Knowledge of human development across the span of life.   
  • Sensitivity and understanding of specific barriers which may lead to lack of access and engagement.
  • Good computer skills including a functional knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word.  Ability to master proprietary software including electronic health record system.
  • Position requires the ability to transport clients in a LifeWorks NW vehicle and a personal vehicle when needed. Requires a valid driver's license, access to a personal vehicle, and current auto insurance coverage.
